Professional Experience

Matthew has been in public accounting for over ten years. He received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Cal Poly Pomona in 2007. In 2012, Matt obtained his CPA license to practice in the state of California. He is a member of the AICPA and CALCPA societies.

Prior to joining our firm, Matt gained valuable experience across various industries and roles. He initially embarked on his career with Eadie Payne in 2007, where he performed both tax and audit services, focusing primarily on financial reporting and audit engagements. He then briefly ventured into private accounting for a local manufacturing company, where he was responsible for bank reconciliations, inventory management, and both year-end and month-end reporting.

Seeking new challenges and opportunities for growth, Matt eventually joined Eide Bailly LLP as a Senior Tax Associate and worked his way toward becoming a Tax Supervisor. There, he managed a diverse portfolio of clients in this role and worked closely with manufacturing and construction companies, as well as not-for-profit organizations. He specialized in tax services with Eide Bailly for nearly a decade, refining his expertise in tax planning and compliance.

Matt’s specialty areas include tax planning, employee benefit plans, and retirement planning strategies. He thrives on solving complex tax challenges while working diligently to guide clients toward financial success. His industry experience spans across the construction, manufacturing, retail, not-for-profit and medical sectors, ranging from small businesses to large international enterprises worth over a billion in annual profit.

Matt was drawn to RP&B CPAs for our firm’s emphasis on work-life balance, our collaborative team environment, and esteemed leadership. Having prior connections with key team members, Matt was inspired by our commitment to client success and professional development. He brings with him a blend of leadership, expertise, and warmth to every engagement.

Born and raised in Rancho Cucamonga, Matt currently lives with his wife, Alysha, and their two children. As a fervent sports fan, he actively roots for the Miami Dolphins, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the Dodgers and Lakers. His athletic prowess extends beyond the sidelines, too. As a former high school captain in football, baseball, and football, Matt channels his competitive spirit by participating in adult softball and basketball leagues.

Matt has a long history of volunteering with nonprofit organizations. Most notably, he’s worked with United Way, the Boy Scouts, and various assisted living homes throughout the Inland Empire. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and decompresses by playing video games. Driven by a desire to explore his heritage, he hopes to one day visit Scotland and Ireland.

Fun fact: Matt appeared in a 2019 episode of Wheel of Fortune, where he won $20,000 and a dream vacation to Aruba.
